This historical tour is meant to take you through Kenya’s history before and after independence from the British rule. A city tour of Nairobi will take us through historical sites like the Mac Millan Library (oldest library in Kenya), Railway Museum, Kenyatta International Convention Center. From Nairobi we head to the Central region of Kenya, where we will have history lesson on how Kenya fought and gained independence by visiting the Mau Mau caves, we also visit The Church of Thogoto, often referred to as the cradle of education in Kenya. This is a history packed tour to take you on a journey through Kenya’s past and present.
Upon arrival at the airport, a representative from Kibo Slopes will be waiting for us to take us to our hotel for an overnight stay.

Today we begin with a city tour of Nairobi where we visit prominent areas like the Equator Point, Kenyatta International Conventional Centre, Mac Millian Library, Railway Museum, National Museum and the Arts gallery. The Nairobi Arts Gallery is situated at Kenya’s point zero from where distances to all corners of the country and subsequently to the continent and the world were measured from. The building also served as a colonial courthouse before independence.
We proceed to have lunch at Karen Blixen Coffee Garden a short walk from the Karen Blixen Museum. The museum belongs to a different time period in the history of Kenya, and was used to film the movie ‘Out of Africa’, an Oscar winning film based on the Danish Author and owner; Karen’s autobiography by the same title.
We return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, we head out and drive to the Central part of Kenya. Here we pass by the Mission of Church of Thogoto which hosts a lot of history and is considered the cradle of modern education spread by the early missionaries. Central Kenya is historically instrumental in the resistance of colonialism mainly from Murang'a, Embu and Nyeri Counties where there was high concentration of Mau Mau activities. We will visit sites like the Kiambicho detention village where Mau Mau fighters were arrested and detained, and the Mau Mau caves. The caves were used as military bases by local freedom fighters known as Mau Mau.
After lunch at Outspan Hotel, we visit Lord Baden Powell Museum (Pax Tu House) - Nyeri
Pax Tu house is the home of the founder of the Scouts Association & Girls Guide Worldwide, Lord Baden Powell. Dinner and overnight at Aberdares Country Club.

This day is dedicated on full exploration of the exotic Ol Pejeta Sweetwaters Conservancy on extensive game runs. The Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of animals including all the “Big Five” (the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion). It is also the home of the Northern White Rhinos which are critically endangered with only two left in the world and the southern white rhinos. The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience.

Picturesque, steep forested ravines and open moorland characterize the Aberdare National Park. The park provides a habitat for elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs and bushbucks among others. Rare sightings include those of the Giant Forest hog, bongo, golden cat, serval cat, African wild cat, African civet cat and the blue duiker.
Bird viewing is rewarding, with over 250 species of birds in the park, including the Jackson's Francolin, Sparrow hawks, goshawks, eagles, sunbirds and plovers. After the game drive, we drive to The Ark, set in the Aberdares overlooking a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a whole lot of wildlife.

After breakfast, we drive through the Rift Valley to Lake Elementaita arriving in time for lunch at Elementaita Lodge. After lunch we visit the Lord Egerton Castle in the outskirts of Nakuru. The Lord Egerton Castle is not only a historic landmark it is an exquisite piece of art dating back to the colonial era constructed in the World War 11 period. We then visit Soysambu Conservancy which hosts more than 450 bird species and Rothschild's Giraffe. Dinner and overnight at Lake Elementaita Lodge.

We take our early breakfast and start off the day’s adventures with a drive to the Lake Nakuru National Park. Game drives here will reveal the abundant birds and wildlife. The flamingoes are the most prominent on the lake shores. Nakuru is also a Rhino Sanctuary with a population of over 100 white and black rhinos plus the fenced park hosts all the Big Five except Elephants. We shall enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic viewpoint with sights over the whole park and the Nakuru town in the backdrop. In the late afternoon we drive back for dinner and overnight at the Lake Elementaita Lodge.

Today we drive on the Rift Valley floor to Narok, a colorful Maasai township before arriving at the Mara where we check in at Keekorok Lodge for lunch. After a short rest we embark on our first evening game drive in the vast game reserve, classified as one of the “Wonders of the World”. The Mara is an extension of the Serengeti in Tanzania and all the “Big Five” are found here. With some luck we may already see some of them today. We return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and overnight.

This day we can either decide to spend doing a full day game drive with packed lunch boxes or have an early morning and evening game drive with lunch at the lodge. Whatever we plan with our driver the evening before it will still be beyond our expectations. The wealth of wildlife at the Maasai is unrivalled in Africa, particularly during the migration of wildebeests from July to October. All meals and overnight will again be at Keekorok Lodge.

After our final breakfast in the Maasai Mara, we do our last game drive en-route out of the Mara to Naivasha. After lunch at the lodge, we’ll go on a boat ride on Lake Naivasha. This will take us up close with the hippos in the water and we will be able to watch them at a close point as they rest among the reeds. There are also hundreds of birds to see in the lake including the famous fish eagle and the cormorants. The shores of the lake are littered with wildlife including buffalos, zebras, giraffes among others.

Today we drive back to Nairobi with a stop at an Italian Chapel located in Mai Mahiu. The church was built by Italian world war 1 prisoners in the war camp in Rift Valley. We proceed on our journey, arriving in Limuru in time for lunch. We have our lunch at Kiambethu Tea Farm where we will tour the beautiful tea farm. The farm offers insight into the life of a settler farm followed by a stroll through the forest where we might spot some colobus monkeys. We then proceed to the Norfork Hotel in the city for dinner and overnight stay.

This day we spend at leisure at the hotel, which is a historic hotel that swerved as a basecamp of early African explorers who ventured to Maasai Mara, Kenya's Coast, and the Great Rift Valley. The hotel also hosted President Theodore Roosevelt in 1909. After lunch, our driver will transfer us to the airport for an evening departure.
