Overview
Discover the beauty and history of northern Ethiopia as we explore the lush landscapes of Bahir Dar and the mighty Blue Nile Falls, cruise across Lake Tana to visit ancient island monasteries, and step back in time in Gondar, home to the majestic castles of Fasil Ghebbi and the richly painted Debre Berhan Selassie Church.
Tour Plan
We take an early morning flight at 07:35 hrs to Bahir Dar, a charming lakeside town on the shores of Lake Tana. Upon arrival, we transfer to the beautiful Kuriftu Resort & Spa Bahir Dar and settle in before heading out for our first excursion.
We visit the spectacular Blue Nile Falls, locally known as Tis Issat (“Smoking Water”), where the powerful cascade creates a misty and scenic atmosphere. After enjoying the falls, we return for lunch and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

After breakfast, we explore the historic monasteries scattered across Lake Tana, the source of the Blue Nile such as those on the Zege Peninsula and Kibran Gabriel (which does not allow entry for women.) These island monasteries are known for their ancient manuscripts, religious art, and peaceful surroundings.
After lunch, we begin our scenic drive to Gondar, a journey of approximately 3–4 hours through the Ethiopian highlands. Upon arrival, we check in at Gondar Hills Resort for dinner and overnight.

This morning, we explore the fascinating Fasil Ghebbi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often referred to as the “Camelot of Africa,” featuring a collection of royal castles and palaces.
Dominating it, is the immense 17th-century castle of Emperor Fasilides, which combines Portuguese, Indian and local architectural styles. Outside the complex is Debre Berhan Selassie church, famous for its iconic and elaborate murals like the ceiling adorned with angelic faces.
After lunch, we transfer to the airport for our 16:25 hrs flight to Addis Ababa, marking the end of our journey.
