Overview
Akagera National park covers an area of 2500 square kilometres that is covered with savannah as well as beautiful scenery. Visit Akagera National Park and experience the beautiful Savannah and lush green forested areas giving you varied sights of Rwanda. Spot over 500 bird species and wildlife including lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, zebras, bushbucks , water bucks and most recently black rhinos have been introduced from South Africa , making the park a big 5 park like it was many years ago.

We will picked from our hotel in Kigali at 6.00 AM and embark on a 2.5 hours’ drive to Akagera National Park located in Eastern Rwanda. We will have an optional stop-over for coffee at the Imigongo Arts Center in Kayonza then proceed to the park.
After clearing with the park authorities we proceed on a full day game drive from Southern to the Northern section of the park. We will have an opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife and a number of bird species over 500 including the African fish Eagle, Black-headed Weaver, Lilac-breasted Roller, African Jacana etc. , wildlife includes elephants, buffalos, hippos, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck etc.
For lunch, we enjoy a picnic lunch at the Muhana plains near Rwanyakizinga Lake and then leave the park through the North gate by about 4.00 pm to drive back to Kigali.
