4x - Camp
Climbers looking for an off the beaten tracks experience will enjoy ascending Mt Kenya on the Chogoria Naromoru route. With accommodations available on fly camps only, trekkers get a unique wilderness experience. The challenging route comes with breathtaking views of the landscape as it is the most scenic route.
Today we leave Nairobi at 6.30 am and drive via Chogoria to the Meru Mt. Kenya Bandas at 2900m. The guide and mountain crew has already arrived and prepared a lunch which we take while we receive a briefing from the guide. After lunch, we start our hike through a scenic landscape with forest patches and open plains, home to varied species of wildlife. Today’s destination is the Road Head Camp at 3400 m. The camp has already been set up by our crew and after dinner we retire early to our tents.

Today’s hike is rather short. We hike along the Gorge Valley towards Point Lenana. The hike gets gradually steeper and finally we ascend a ridge and get to the Simba Tarn (4600m), our camp site for the night at the base of Point Lenana. We enjoy our dinner while marveling the spectacular views of Nelion and Batian, the main peaks of Mt.Kenya and Point Lenana our challenge for tomorrow.
After an early morning breakfast at 5.00am, the track will lead via a steep screed to the Simba Cole and finally through steep rocky path to the point Lenana. At sunrise we have made it. The rising sun tosses the Nelion and Bation in a golden light while the view over the plains below are spectacular. After the summit photos, we descend via Austrian Hut and Mackinders Camp (lunch) to the Metstation where our cars are waiting to take us to Nairobi. We arrive Nairobi in the late evening.
