Overview

We depart Arusha in the morning for a scenic drive to Londorossi Gate on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro (approx. 3–4 hours), passing through rural villages and lush highland landscapes.

After registration formalities, we continue by 4×4 vehicle up to the Shira Plateau, where we begin our hike across this vast, open moorland. The walk is gentle and rewarding, with expansive views, unique alpine vegetation, and on clear days stunning perspectives of Kibo Peak.

We enjoy a picnic lunch along the trail before descending back to the vehicle and returning to Arusha in the late afternoon, completing a memorable high-altitude day experience on Africa’s highest mountain.
