Starting from the capital the journey takes us south to the soda lakes of Magadi and onwards to the heart of the South Rift, passing by the gorgeous Chyulu hills before finishing in the wildlife-rich plains of the Amboseli.
Upon arrival we are met by a representative of Kibo Slopes Safaris and transferred to our hotel in Nairobi.

At breakfast at 7.00 am we will be transferred to the Ngong Hills main gate ( 1950m) where we meet our cycling guide.. After introduction and briefing we ride 12.5 km over the seven hills. The 6th hill is also the summit with 2460m. After a 3 hour ride we arrive at Kona Baridi for lunch. After lunch we have a 1000m downhill ride to Oltepesi where we leave the tarmac road and ride on for another 15 km to Ammodump camp for dinner and overnight.

Today we explore Lake Magadi and the hot springs by car. Lake Magadi is one of the southern Rift Valley lakes. It is a soda lake and supports many flamingoes and other water birds. Soda ash is mined here. We leave before sunrise with breakfast boxes and return for lunch again to the camp. In the afternoon we undertake a bicycle tour on the 4000 acre ranch in search for wildlife. We come across giraffes, zebras, and different types of gazelles and antelopes.
Dinner and overnight will be again at the camp.

Today we have an early breakfast at 6.00 am and cycle for 70km to the Leruat Log Resort in near Kajiado Town. We have a lunch about midway in a place named Mile 46. We criss cross several times the railway and finally ascend the Leruat Hill at 2020m. It is long day but our back up car is on standby. The view from the Log Resort are spectacular. On clear day we may even see Kilimanjaro in a distance while the lights of Kajiado town below us provide a fantastic view in the late evening.

After a short steep downhill ride for 1 km we ride 20 km round the Leruat Hill to Enkaroni and on to Bisil. Here we stop for a short tea break in one of the local hotels before we proceed on another 65 km ride through small villages and Maasai Homesteads to the Mashuru road crossing the Selenkay River. A short ride on the tarmac road take us to Amboseli Selenkay Camp for dinner and overnight.

A 50 km ride through the plains takes us past a cement factory to the Maasai Simba Camp. On clear days we have good views of Kilimanjaro and meet Maasai Cattle mingling with zebras and giraffes. We arrive for a late lunch at the camp. We have an opportunity to take a short nature walk with an experienced Maasai Elder who explains the different uses of the plants and trees in the area. As the sun sets over the western foothills of Kilimanjaro we are entertained by a traditional dance and dinner served at a bonfire.

After about 20 km through the plains we approach the hills and have an uphill section of about 5 km and 300m in front of us. Another 10 km ride along the ridge with magnificent view over the Yatta plateau in the east and Kilimanjaro on the south west as we descend a steep section to the Buffalo Camp site near Oltiasika. Occasionally we see some wildlife like zebras, elands and Impalas on the slopes of the hills besides herds of Maasai cattle. Tents are already pitched and the crew is preparing dinner while we relax with a cup of tea and snack while watching the sun setting over the Kilimanjaro.

After breakfast we descend again to the Maasai plains at about 1100m. Passing by Maasai Homesteads we cycle towards a seasonal Lake – Lake Arpakai. Here we might find Hippos and water birds as well as plain game quenching their thirst. We keep on riding further towards the slopes of Kilimanjaro. We hardly realize the gentle climbing but finally we will have after a 60 km ride reached an altitude of about 1400m at Oldedera farm where again our fly camp has been set. The views from here towards Kilimanjaro are magnificent. The owner of the farm may join us for dinner and explain a little about the farming challenges in the rather dry area.

Today we explore the fertile slopes of Kilimanjaro. We have an uphill stretch of about 15 km ahead of us which takes us close to the Tanzanian Border at 2000m. Here in the Riverbed of the Kimengelia River a barbeque lunch has been prepared. We relax here a bit and watch Colobus monkeys and Baboons in the indigenous trees at the river banks. We continue our ride close to the Tanzanian border at an altitude of 2100m to Murtot. From here we finally enjoy our final downhill stretch to the Amboseli Basin at 1200m. We arrive at the Amboseli Sentrim Camp in the late afternoon. On the way we may encounter lots of wildlife including elephants. As we relax at the pool of the Camp we have time to review the past days. We also pack our bicycles again – our adventure is coming to an end. Dinner and overnight will be at the camp.

Today we explore the Amboseli Park by car. With some luck we may find predators on their hunting missions while hundreds of elephants and plain game pose for photographs. Amboseli also is home to more than 400 species of birds. For lunch we return to the camp, take a rest at the pool and venture again in the late afternoon for game drives until dawn.

Depending on our flight timing we check out of the hotel and drive to Nairobi (230km) for our departure flight. On the way we may decide to stop for an optional lunch
