Adventurous climbers looking to explore the road-less traveled will find the Kamweti route ideal for ascent. Starting from the East, the trek goes through bamboo forest belt and dramatic landscape including river crossings to point Lenana and a quick descent on the Sirimon route.
We leave Nairobi in the morning at 7.30 am and drive through the farmland of the Central Province to the Forest Castle Lodge. As we approach the Mount Kenya Slopes the coffee plantation give way to tea Plantations. The final part is dense Forest Land where we might encounter wildlife such as elephants and buffaloes. We arrive just in time for lunch and in the afternoon embark on a short hike to the Old Forest Station. The terrain is easy and the hike is more or less a leisurely stroll where we have plenty of time to marvel at the lush mountain environment. We stop for lunch on the way and arrive in the early afternoon our camp. The crew has pitched tents and welcomes us with a cup of tea and snacks.
