After the last good rest, we hike through rocky moonlike landscape to School Hut at 4750m. The 8km hike is a bit tiresome as oxygen reduce by every step we take towards the summit. The hut was originally by the Outward Bound Trust and in the early nineties was renovated by Kibo Slopes Safaris. It is now under the management of the Kilimanjaro National Park Authority. Usually it is not crowded & provides a good shelter to rest before next day’s challenge. If you are not happy with the bunk beds in the hut we are always ready to pitch a tent for. The afternoon we spent resting to conserve our energies for the midnight summit challenge.
