This tour offers unique opportunities to explore Rwanda and Uganda and its wildlife by car and on foot. We will have the honor of visiting the Dian Fossey Grave on a hike in the Volcanoes Park and meeting the Mountain Gorillas in their natural environment is a life time experience.
Upon arrival at Kigali International airport we are received by a Kiboslopes representative and drive to Scheba hotel for check in and overnight stay.

After breakfast we embark on a tour of Kigali which is ranked as the cleanest city in Africa. During this tour we visit the Genocide memorial to have a better understanding the tragedy that happened in 1994. The tour through the old and new Kigali takes us to cultural and artistic places like the Inema Arts Centre and Kimironko market, the most vibrant area in Kigali. We have an optional lunch at Milles Collines and later drive to Musanze for an overnight at Le Bamboo Gorilla Lodge in Kinigi.

After breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for briefing which starts at 7 a.m to start Dian Fossey’s hike. After a 30 minutes’ drive from the National park HQ takes us to the to the trail head. A 1 to 2 hour walk through the forest takes us to Dian Fossey’s grave yard where we learn about her conservation work. We return to the trail head where our driver takes us to the Ellen DeGeneres Gorilla campus for more information about gorilla conservation. We have our lunch in the cafeteria at the campus. In the afternoon we do a 2 hours’ canoe tour on the Mukungwa river where we enjoy the scenery of the strata volcanoes which form the Virunga mountains.

After breakfast, we pass by the scenic twin lakes for a photo stop and continue to the Cyanika Border to Kisoro lunch at the traveller’s Inn. In the afternoon we explore a coffee plantation near Lake Mutanda. We get to know the growing practices right from planting, harvesting, roasting and finally tasting a home- made cup of coffee. Dinner and overnight will be at the Gorilla Valley Lodge in Rushaga.

With packed lunch we drive to Nkuringo UWA visitor’s reception for briefing and we’re assigned a ranger escort. We continue to Nteko Ridge, the junction of the Ivy River trail and start our walk through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This walk takes 4-5 hours. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is a natural unique reserve, on the way we will see some primates, birds and if we’re lucky we may even encounter Gorillas while on this walk. The guide will share knowledge about the Forest. Upon arrival at Buhoma we check in at The Haven Lodge for overnight stay.

Today after breakfast we proceed to the visitors’ reception for a briefing on the day’s activity of tracking the Mountain Gorillas. Our ranger guide will lead us through the mysterious and wonderful forest which offers quite a lot as we make our way to see the giant Mountain Gorillas. The additional wildlife includes the primates, butterflies, mammals and birds. After this rewarding experience we return to the lodge and enjoy a view of the forest and reminiscence back on the day’s activity.

After breakfast we proceed to Ishasha, the southern section of Queen Elizabeth National Park famously known for its tree climbing lions among the highlights on safaris. The landscape in this section of this park is different from that found on other parts of Queen. We will also come across huge buffalo herds, antelopes, and elephants. It borders Lake George and Lake Edward as well as Kazinga Channel in the western area of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Dinner and overnight Ishasha Jungle Lodge.

After breakfast, we drive to the northern section of Queen for a brief game viewing to see more animals including lions and over 500 bird species have been identified making it a place for bird watchers. These include the 11 different species of kingfisher, eagles, and the black bee-eater. We have lunch at Mweya Safari Lodge and after go for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel which takes about 2hours. The water joins 2 lakes, L. Edward and L. George filled with hippos, buffalos, and elephants on the banks. After the cruise we drive to Buffalo Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we drive for around 5 hours and return to Rwanda via Kagitumba border and stop for lunch at Epic Hotel in Nyagatare which is located few minutes from the Northern exit of the Akagera National park. We then continue and check in at the Akagera Rhino Lodge, near the Park Boundary. We relax and go for a sunset canoe tour in the nearby Lake. After the canoe tour we head back to Akagera Rhino lodge for an overnight stay.

After an early breakfast with packed lunch, we go for a game drive within Akagera National park with the chance to meet all the big five (elephants, rhinos, buffalos, leopards, lions), the dominant impala and other different animals to colour our game drive. Beside the big five, Akagera NP offers beautiful landscapes and plenty other animals like zebras, bushbucks, antelopes and primates like olive baboons, velvets and secretive blue monkeys which are seen during the day. Akagera NP is also home of more than 450 birds’ species. After the game drive we drive straight to Kigali, have diner at the rooftop of Ubumwe Grand Hotel enjoying the view of Kigali at night, then drive to Scheba hotel for an overnight.

After breakfast we are transferred to the airport for departure which is a 20 minutes’ drive from Scheba Hotel.
