Today we have a long drive ahead of us. The 400km drive takes us to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in the heart of Uganda. We stop for a lunch break in Gulu. Ziwa is the only place inUganda where we can see rhinos in the wild. Presently the sanctuary is home to thirty two southern white rhinos up from the 6 it started with and the numbers are still rising. Dinner and overnight will be at the Amuka Lodge within the Ziwa Conservancy.
Today at 8.00am we get the opportunity to watch these endangered, magnificent creatures in their natural habitat on foot. As these rhinos are free to move around on 7 000 hectares of land, it is often necessary to drive to the areas where the rhinos are, before taking the bush trek. This drive is done in your own vehicle. While at the sanctuary we may also encounter a range of other wildlife species including Uganda kobs, oribis, bush bucks, water bucks among others and a number of other bird species. At 10.00am we return to the lodge for lunch and return in the afternoon to Kampala for dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge.
Depending on the time of our international departure we will be transferred to Entebbe airport.
